DRaaS for IBM Z Mainframe

Disaster Recovery, DRaaS, IBM, IBM z

Recovery Point DRaaS for IBM Z Mainframe is a Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) offering that leverages both DASD-based replication and VTS-based replication, offering a range of Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) depending on the client’s requirements.

DASD-based replication, while more costly, is used to achieve rapid recovery with aggressive RPOs (seconds or minutes) and RTOs (hours). VTS-based replication is more cost-effective and is used for more typical 24-hour RPO and 24 to 72-hour RTO values. Combining VTS-based and DASD-based replication strategically addresses both critical systems and less critical LPARs.

Recovery Point provides colocation space and power to accommodate client-owned solutions such as IBM DS8910F DASD and IBM TS7700 VTS and Mainframe recovery infrastructure in a subscription-based model. When configuring solutions, requirement gathering includes the number of MIPS, the amount of memory, the amount of DASD (if applicable), and the amount of annual test time.

Recovery Point incorporates network connectivity for dedicated circuit-based or IPsec VPN-based designs, and for remote testing.
